Both the PhatNoise MUSIC Manager and the PhatNoise MEDIA Manger can "rip" a CD into a WAV file. It can also encode CDs into MP3, WMA, or OGG at bitrates from 32 to 320 kbps. To obtain the best sound quality, PhatNoise Music Manager can encode CDs into FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files, a perfect reproduction of the original uncompressed audio.
THe PhatNoise MEDIA Manager can encode CDs into the AAC (.M4A) format with the purchase of
MEDIA Manager Plus.
Note that in order to play OGG files with the PhatBox, you will need the most recent
firmware and the
PhatNoise MEDIA Manager to copy OGG files to the DMS.
